Uniques (also called Orangerines or Ortaniques)
Rare Jamaican treasure found on Florida's East Coast
A Florida grower, vacationing far away in Jamaica, stumbled upon a most peculiar looking orange tree. Sampling its rare, odd-shaped fruit, he was thrilled with the uniquely-zesty, tropical flavor. Excitedly he snipped off a few carefully chosen sprigs of healthy bud-wood, and hurried back to Florida with his rare, precious cargo. After many painstakingly long years of grafting, he finally succeeded in cultivating a Jamaican orange on Florida soil!
Hardly anyone has even heard of a Royal Ortanique, much less tasted one. Since we've been blessed with a very limited supply of this exotic orange, I wanted you to be among the first to experience its truly distinctive flavor.
